4. Location Data Usage
MeterBoard requires location access to function properly. Specifically:
- During active trips: We collect GPS data to calculate fares, track routes, and detect idle periods.
- Fleet tracking: If you are part of a fleet, your location may be shared with fleet administrators in real-time.
- Background location: When a trip is active, we continue tracking your location even when the app is in the background to ensure accurate fare calculation.
You can stop location tracking at any time by ending your trip or closing the app.
5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:
- Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide the fare calculation and fleet management services you requested (account management, trip tracking, fare calculation)
- Consent: Location tracking, push notifications, and advertising personalization — you can withdraw consent at any time through app settings or device permissions
- Legitimate interests: App improvement, security monitoring, fraud prevention, and analytics — balanced against your privacy rights
- Legal obligations: Where we are required by law to process or retain your data

- Fleet administrators: Your location and trip data within your fleet (only with your consent by joining the fleet)
